Authentic tacos and quesadillas Green Verda sauce is great / no Roja or chipotle sauce
The restaurant is attached to a grocery store. The chairs were on the tables when I entered and it's mostly "self service" to put the chair on the floor yourself. You'd order at the grocery store cash register where you can add on canned/bottled drinks/beer from the refrigerators as well. The barbacoa tacos I ordered was so flavorful and delicious. Every entree is served with a green sauce and chips - they had no red sauce today. The ambience is not great and it's located in an up and coming part of town, but the food it worth a visit although one may not stay for long.
Great flavors that are typical of the SW all the way out to Califa. As mentioned a few times, the service is lacking. The food makes you come back, but the service, even for to go orders, make you reconsider if you care to deal with the poor attention to customers. Sad observation of mine is that those on Yelp have recourse to document less than optimal service, but imagine how bad they treat a good chunk of their cash only base customers who likely has no recourse to complain about service. Very sad.
You know it's gonna be good when they have to translate your order! Shop is located in downtown Bonita near the Sherwin Williams paint place. The tostadas were great (ordered the beef). Tried chicken tacos -- also superb. The seafood was great. Plus a selection of sodas from south of the border. We don't want no WALL -- we really need more great family places like this one!
We had the chicken soup, Chicken quesidillas, which came with tortilla, Pork taco, and Beef fajitas taco. All were fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, they had no tamales. The waitress said there were no fish tacos and then I ask another lady, who spoke a bit more english, who said they had fish. Typically the servers have limited English. But they are very nice. Although this place is in a section of Bonita Springs that looks drab and the location of this restaurant may not look desirable, it's safe. It has a mini market on one side where many of local Mexican patronize. Food is always good and very authentic home cook comfort food. The 5 stars is based on food. If you are looking for a upscale dining, then this is not for you.
Tortilleria La Rancherita is great. I've been there twice since last Friday. I found out about it the Ft. Myers News-Press, after they won the taco contest.Their tacos are incredible. All of their shells are homemade and you can see the machine going in the back as you order. Homemade chips and salsa are served table side. I've tried shredded beef tacos, gordita, fajitas and a tamale. They're all incredible, especially the tacos. Get the sour cream on top. They also serve beer. It is a bit of a relaxed pace, so don't head there if you're in a hurry. I did drive past it twice, before I found it. It's hidden in a plaza next to Sherwin Williams. It's a tiny place with take-away and a market on one half. The other half has about 8 tables.
I'm always on the hunt for authentic Mexican food, and I love this little mom 'n' pop shop. Half of the establishment is a restaurant, the other half a tiny grocery store. The food is outstading. In addition to having had everything from their beef burritos, soups, quesadillas, and tacos, I get their guacamole every time, too. Upon placing your order, you'll immediately receive chips and salsa, that is excellent to snack on until your food arrives. Last time, I ordered a cactus taco and a tongue taco. Both were delicious. I had never had cactus before and I'm certain I will order cactus again. I'd definitely recommend this place. SO delicious.
